Welcome to A Love Shared

Motivated by our friend Chef Gerry Hayden's diagnosis with ALS in 2011, A Love Shared is a collaborative effort to raise awareness about ALS, to promote research for ALS and to raise money for quality of life care for Chef Gerry Hayden.

Chef Hayden, now the owner and executive chef of The North Fork Table & Inn, has had an illustrious career in the best kitchens of NYC, but it all started at The River Café.

For one very special night under the stars and the Brooklyn Bridge, Gerry's culinary buddies will come together to support their friend at a very special tasting event.

The River Café, owned and founded by visionary Michael "Buzzy" O'Keeffe, opened in 1977 on the barren Brooklyn waterfront under the iconic Brooklyn Bridge with an amazing few of Manhattan.  Since then Bryan Miller of The New York Times referred to The River Café as "the Harvard Business School of the culinary world." Regina Schrambling, also of The New York Times headlined her article on The River Café "The Restaurant that Launched a Thousand Chefs."   Recently reopened earlier this year after taking a beating from Hurricane Sandy, The New York Times noted that the glorious tradition continues with Chef Brad Steelman, executive chef since 2000, "No place in the city combines spectacle with hideaway intimacy and undiluted romance the way the River Café does."
